李洪志"拍打"治病，打的是"气功"的旗号，其实李洪志的所谓"发功"，左不过就是拍拍、打打、敲敲、捏捏等动作，绝对是摆摆样子，忽悠求治者。李洪志的街坊邻居、老师同学、部队战友都证明李洪志根本治不了病。如果李洪志能够发功治病，为什么自己的岳父和母亲都病死了？如果李洪志真有神功，自己为什么要去医院治病？其女儿李美歌为什么要上医院治病？父女二人为什么留下数十张医药费单据和住院病历？

据不完全统计，在李洪志的欺骗下，在中国有两千多名法轮功信徒因病拒绝就医而死，数百名法轮功信徒自杀或自残，30多名无辜者被法轮功信徒杀害。即使在美国，也有一些法轮功痴迷者因生病拒绝就医而失去生命，如封莉莉、李大勇等人。法轮功口头上标榜所谓"真善忍"，实际上容不得任何不同观点。它曾多次组织信徒围攻对法轮功歪理邪说提出质疑的民众、媒体和政府机构，包括美联社、罗杰斯等一些新闻机构。2014年12月，美国著名邪教问题研究和干预专家瑞克·罗斯出版了《邪教：洗脑背后的真相》一书，书中专门有两章详细讨论了法轮功问题，认定法轮功是具有世界影响的破坏性的邪教。

正当李洪志在"7.21"狂呼什么:"从目前整个正法形势来看，整个宇宙天体的变化是相当大的。庞大的新宇宙天体巨大无比，前所未有的美好，正法已经是在最后的最后在做了。"刚刚50天后，震惊世界的"9.11"事件发生了。在李洪志自认为是天堂的美国竟出现这样大的恐怖事件，李洪志这个自称为唯一的至高无上的神曾经在2000年10月21日就承诺过"向所有美国、加拿大各级政府授予我们的荣誉和授予我个人的荣誉表示非常的感谢!我会把未来的美好带给他们。"这难道就是李洪志的未来美好?经过一段的沉默后，"明慧网"上在9月23日居然发出了李洪志7月9日的"经文"———"路"，这是在走投无路的情况下设计的表演。一方面说明他们还在活动，另一方面又绕道而行，躲开了对"9.11"的表态。

李洪志在2005年11月5日的《旧金山讲法》就表达了这种绝望而又痛惜的心情："不管师父在正法中能力有多大，表面上这个旧的势力在起着间隔作用，它把师父的巨大能力和表面间隔开了。——它们对师父也会做一些个手脚，对师父这个表面身体也会有些影响。从99年7.20以后——，那么大的邪恶师父要清理，很多学员的业力师父要承担，所以对表面身体也有一定的伤害。"
　　既然身体已经受到伤害，那就赶快治病救命啊，但是，且慢，他没有这个自由。因为，是李洪志自己封了自己治病求生之门。他在《转法轮》中说，人修到一定层次后，"这个人从此以后不会自然衰老，他的细胞不会消亡,那么他就青春长驻了。在修炼过程中,人会显得年轻，最后就定在那里了"，如此说来，李洪志自己是绝对不会衰老的，不会生病的。李洪志自己也确实多次说过自己"几岁得法，从来不生病，长这么大连医院的门朝哪边开都不知道"。
